Brenna Miles' first track under the B.Miles alias, 'Nine Matches', put her very much in the limelight. A creeping dark-pop ballad, produced by New York duo Noise Club, it provided a window into her world where Nick Cave and Tom Waits are nothing short of deities. Her second cut, 'Shaking Hands', premieres this week and plunges us further into the smoky essence of the Los Angeles artist. Another collaboration with Noise Club, 'Shaking Hands' has even more of a sheen to it than her previous offering, with deep, oscillating bass grooves, buffed and burnished percussion and louche guitar strokes all coming together in perfect, dusky harmony. - DC
